I just finished listening to this while on a long drive to Wisconsin, and I just had to pull over in order to post it. Many of us who came to age politically in the late 1970s and early 1980s remember this moment. I actually remember when there was such a thing as a liberal Republican! Probably most people younger than me remember the era of Ronald Reagan as history cast in golden hues, but there were many of us even at that time who were more than skeptical. I remember sitting in my parents living room, listening to this convention speech, and literally weeping. (There was even a reference to St. Francis of Assisi!) Whether you are a liberal, conservative, or libertarian, this speech is worth listening to again. How different the country could have been had this man somehow been elected to the highest office!
