I just finished reading the first book in a series - historical fiction taking place during the Civil War. Also, just watched the last episode - 9 of 9 - of Ken Burns documentary on the Civil War. Watching his documentary helped refresh my memory and put the book I was reading in proper perspective. The first book is from the point of view of a white Southern woman living in Richmond, VA. The second is about a white Northern womans experiences and feelings. The third is about a slave woman in the south and her life before, during, and after the war. The author is Lynn Austin and it is her Refiners Fire series.
