I just fired off my email to Deval Patrick after his statement of telling the associates to go back to work! More than likely it will be ignored because I am from NH but it cant hurt in letting him know how I feel about what he said! Good Afternoon Governor, I am writing because of my concern with your latest comments about the boycott and protests surrounding Market Basket. What most concerns me is that you are calling for employees to return to work. Please tell me how employees are to return to work when all part-time associates have been told that there are no hours available to them and they are now standing in the unemployment line! I would also like you to explain to me why employees that are scheduled to work at the Andover warehouse and go into work at their scheduled time of 3:00 am and are turned away by men in tan suits telling them that they cant work! How do associates return to work when there are no jobs for them to return to! For those associates that are able to work, how are they suppose to do their jobs when shipments are being sent to the wrong stores, when trailers are delivered with pallets or empty, when the Board of Health is at a store and send a load of perishable items back to the warehouse because the driver didnt have the refrigeration unit running and now an entire load is wasted! Now lets discuss the customers, or hostages as the current BOD and Class A Shareholders like to refer to us as. You can suggest and the BOD can demand that they employees return to work and stock the shelves but what you, the BOD and the media are failing to recognize is that is has gone far beyond the associates of Market Basket, the customers WILL NOT shop in the stores until Arthur T. Demoulas is reinstated as CEO! We will continue to boycott, we will continue to fight alongside the associates! We, the customers, cant be fired and will continue to shut the stores down. You, yourself, have stated that the media knows just about as much as you do, which is less than the associates do! If you want to truly know what is going on, get out there and ask the associates in your state what there concerns are, take the time to find out what the customers feel about the situation. These are the people that elected you into office and it is your duty to fight for them ! This fight not only effects the associates and customers but is destroying so many other businesses that rely on Market Basket to survive! You stepped in before in a private company matter to save the jobs of nearly 100 housekeepers for the Hyatt Regency in calling for a boycott! How is this situation with Market Basket any different, aside from the fact that your wife is a lawyer for the law firm that is representing the side of Arthur S. Demoulas. Do you know how this appears to the people of the states of MA and NH? It is called favoritism which I, and many others, hope is not the case! You cant step in for one privately owned company and not for the other! IT IS YOUR JOB TO DO THE RIGHT THING, AND THAT THING IS TO DEMAND THAT THE CURRENT BOD, CEOS AND SHAREHOLDERS END THIS AND SELL TO ARTHUR T. DEMOULAS AND GET THE ASSOCIATES BACK TO WORK AND MARKET BASKET BACK TO THE SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS IT ONCE WAS! TIME IS RUNNING OUT AND THIS MUST END NOW!
