I just found out today that Bern Will Brown Passed away Friday July 4, 2014 at the age of 94. I was fortunate enough to travel to Colville Lake in Sept of 2007 and meet this talented man in the home he built himself along with a church, museum and cabins he and his wife Margaret rent out to visitors and workers who travel to the community. We spent some time talking and I was able to see many of his beautiful paintings. One of the things I will never forget will be arriving on the Airstrip in a 4 seater cesna and looking for the small airport which there is none, then to see Bern Will Brown driving his quad with a trailer up to the airstrip. At this point he told myself and a fellow employee at the time to hop in the trailer with our suitcases and he will bring us to the cabin. Well when I arrived at my cabin I was greeted with the tour that showed me the outhouse, stove with wood, plywood bed and steel bowl with water to wash up if we needed. All this for $230 bucks a night 5 Star service. Oh ya if we wanted to take a shower we could go to the Co-Op transient and pay $25 bucks. It was a trip that not very many people get to say they have done and one I will never forget.
