I just had an hour-long lunch interview with a Washington Post - TopicsExpress

I just had an hour-long lunch interview with a Washington Post reporter whos in town for a story on what Ferguson might be able to learn from Cincinnati. Back in 2001, Cincinnati made national news resulting from the bad state of our race relations and police-community relations. Im proud of how our city responded, bringing so many stakeholders to the table, acknowledging a serious problem, changing the way policing happens in Cincinnati, making strategic public-private investments in our neighborhoods, deepening the role of the school system in addressing the challenges of poverty, and over time, bit by bit, restoring a sense of community ownership and public trust. There is still (and always) room for improvement, but weve come a long way. The Washington Post story is supposed to run this Sunday; Ill be very interested to reads its analysis.
