I just had to share the 9 things you probably didnt know about me, which actually are more than 9. haha I just finished writing for the 9 things you probably didnt know about me. Things you probably didnt know about me: 1. Im a New Yorker. At least I was born there and then I lived in Michigan before moving to the San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles. Now I live in the high desert in Los Angeles. 2. I spent a few Summers at Lake Michigan at the cabin of my parents friends. I almost drowned in Lake Michigan when I was 6. I saw my whole life flash before my eyes, as my head bounced off the bottom of the lake and I couldnt hold my breath any longer. Then just as I was about to inhale water, the hand of God literally picked me up and tossed me onto the beach and I landed in a perfect 10 gymnastic position on my feet! 3. Yes, I believe in miracles! Also, in God, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit! You probably knew this already! 4. My grandfather, my dads dad, took me to my first pow wow when I was about 8 years old, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. My grandfather told me I am part Cherokee. I do not know exactly how, but I believe it is on my grandmothers side. My grandmother was Blanche Walker. I have always felt the spirit of being Native American in my heart and soul. Some of my other relatives deny this, but that is because they were taught to be prejudiced against Indians. 5. Before my dad met my mom, and then after she came into his life, my dad had a sailboat named the Tecumseh. He owned it with two other guys and it was kept in Detroit Harbor. My dad was a pirate! He smuggled booze from Ontario, Canada, across the Hudson River and back to Detroit in the 1950s. No wonder I like pirates so much! 6. I attended the 1964 New York Worlds Fair on a trip after moving to Michigan with my parents. Goofy said, “Give us a kiss little girl, gahilk, gahilk, gahilk! 7. I have a 1965 Ford Mustang convertible that belonged to my parents. I went to the dealer in Dearborn, Michigan in 1965, with my parents, to order it from the factory! Its almost 50 years old! In the 4th of July parade in Chatsworth, California, 1976, my mom drove the Mustang and I rode my horse in the same parade. 8. I had a horse when I was a teenager. The lady my dad bought her from was the groomer for our poodle. The lady my dad bought her from got my horse from a man named Louie, who bought her from the estate of Jayne Mansfield, the actress. The saddle we bought from her belonged to the first woman jockey in California and it was also used in a poodle and pony circus act. I still have the saddle. The bit that came with her was Bohlin made with California poppies in sterling silver (still have the bit too, but it needs repairing). I called Mr. Bohlin on the phone and spoke with him once. While riding bareback in the trails of Chatsworth, California, my horse ran away with me 3 times, but I stayed on. She was a running quarter horse. She had been abused before I got her and she had a very hard mouth. My horse was an excellent trail horse. One time it got dark and I was lost on the trail. I gave my horse her head and she took us home. I am a good trail rider! I took riding lessons to be a jockey or exercise rider for race horses in the 1980s. I would ride my horse alone a lot! My parents didnt like it, but the riding kept me out of trouble with boys. One time I was in the mountains riding alone. Three motorcycle riders chased me and my horse to the edge of a cliff on purpose! My horse screamed, I screamed! Then my horse did a slide-stop (rodeo style) right to the edge of the cliff, but we didnt go over. My horse was shaking and I was shaking and I got off of her. The three motorcycle guys stopped and were laughing at us! They took off and never said anything to us. 9. I am related to Barney Oldfield, race car driver. I love racing of all kinds, auto, horse, running, and dog sledding! I love the Iditarod! I used to run 4 miles about four or five times per week. 10. It was always my dream to marry a man who wanted to live in Alaska and we would live off the land and run in the Iditarod. It didnt happen. 11. I have more to write, but that is it for now.
