I just have to say this I have kept quite long enough about this subject THE MULTI-Use Deep Water Berthing Facility. This project was started years ago and was brought to the fore front thanks to HTC on behalf of the City. The city of Hoonah has never never asked HTC to do this. This was a item listed as a capital improvement project (CIP), also known as our wish list. And believe me the City is grateful for the efforts and time that HTC took to get this Grant. (HTC) chose to take this item from our CIP list and bump it up with the help of our legislatures sitting in office at the time which is fine as this list is public information and available to the public. And then the GRANT was awarded to the City of Hoonah due to the fact that this is public monies and is not and can not be awarded to a Private Entity which HTC is a private for profit Corp. The Prior City Council had the best interest of the people and the town in mind going forward with this project never ever once did it cross our minds how is this going to benefit HTC. It was, and always will be for the citizens of Hoonah, Being a HTC shareholder is not a part of this, as this is public money. If you have time, please stop at City hall and take a look at this Draft that was to be presented last night but from what I understand the Draft never was even brought up or discussed, this is a four (4) phase project that was to assure jobs for members of Hoonah, year round jobs. To benefit the fishing community the barge companies, ferry system, and the coast guard, and who ever needs safe harboring this all means money for the city (revenue) also for the school. JOBS!!! JOBS!!!!! JOBS!!!
