I just have to say this and please know it is NOT meant to offend anyone at all, but as a warning, PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOGS INSIDE UNLESS YOU ARE OUT WITH THEM! I stopped on Rte 281 this morning in Homer because there was this cute little black dog right near the sidewalk all alone. I slammed on my breaks and stopped (thank goodness nothing was right behind me), SCARED me! I got out, couldnt just leave him there with the cars and trucks going up and down that busy road. It turned out to be this cute little black pug, looked very young, he would come up to me, but I couldnt get ahold of him so I started walking toward a house near there to see if he was theirs or they knew whos he was. Thankfully, he followed me, my heart was in my throat! He followed me up on the steps and he was their dog, but Dad didnt seem overly concerned. I told him he was near the road and I was afraid he would get hit, he thanked me, but from what he said to the dog, this was NOT the first tiime he had gotten out. THAT is how dogs get hit in the road, get stolen (if I hadnt found his home right away, I would have taken him and then posted for the owner), or wander off. I am still bothered by this and so afraid this baby will end up gone. PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE THEM OUT WITH YOU!
