I just learned something. I had assumed that Brian Wilson was the lead singer on the Pet Sounds album version of God Only Knows. In fact it was his brother Carl. Carl, of course, always sang the song in concert. Brian rarely toured with the Beach Boys. Brian Wilson wrote and arranged one of the most beautiful songs *ever* and allowed his younger brother to sing it on what many people consider the most perfect rock album ever, Pet Sounds. How sweet! A man named Paul McCartney claimed that God Only Knows was his favorite song ever. Peggy and I were fortunate enough to meet Brian Wilson on two occasions, once in La Crosse in 1981, and once in Milwaukee in 1987. Carl introduced us to his older brother and he said it in such a way as if Peggy and I didnt realize that Brian Wilson was his older brother. So cute. Thank God that Brian is still alive, sure wish Carl was still with us.
