I just left the Presidents State of the Union and here are my thoughts: This past year, the President told the nation that while he wasnt on the ballot, his policies were. Those policies, his party, and his agenda suffered a resounding defeat last November. This should have clearly told him that America wants a different path for our future. But rather than be humble and conciliatory with the American people, the President instead deliberately broke our laws. Rather than move in a bipartisan direction, the President feels at liberty to play offense, and double down on the divisive policies of the past. Policies designed to tear down rather than build our country. Americans dont want to view their neighbors successes as their misfortune. Americans want a land of opportunity. One with lower taxes, not higher. One with more freedom and less government, not a government that takes from those struggling to put food on their tables to pay for free initiatives that the President supports. We dont want a divided America and this Congress wont stand for policies designed to pit citizens against each other. We dont want an out-of-control executive, and this Congress wont empower unrestrained executive actions that the President tries to substitute for duly passed law. We can do better, and the 535 Members of Congress who express the will of the people will propose real, American solutions based on more than the opinions of one man.
