I just made a startling and gross discovery. Remember the frog - TopicsExpress

I just made a startling and gross discovery. Remember the frog bought for Robbies birthday? Not even 16 hours later the frog was dead. Petco said to bring the frog in with the water. I get there and they cant test the water because the frog is in the water. The water is contaminated. They didnt say to bring them in separately!!!!!!So I have to bring another sample in at another time. I called the corporate office to complain but thats another story. Long story short I decided to test my tank water, the tap water and water that was in the bag from the store. They all show traces of ammonia. The yellow color is 0 to 6.4. 0 is optimal but realistically unless its a brand new cycled tank with no fish you will always have traces of ammonia. OR so I thought. Heres the rub folks....... The first picture is water from the pet store. The second picture is from tap water. I didnt post a picture of my tank water because it was exactly the same. The gross part of all of this, is if you drink city tap water its recycled, which means there is still traces of ammonia in the water; which is produced by POO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God we drink bottled water. But Im going to start boiling my water when I cook! Thats including making drinks!!!!! I know that wont fix the problem but it will make me feel better!!!!! Ewww! Ewwwee! Ewwwww!!!!! Oh and Im also taking these findings to the pet store because theyre not going to tell me my water is dirty when their water was the same!!!!! And the only reason why my tank is showing those readings is currently its overstocked! I have 14 fish I call my own plus 40+ offspring / fry! Cant very well suck them all down while Im syphoning. Many of them are too small to rehome. I take pride that my tank is crystal clear and my fish are healthy! Its war I say ! War! Lol
