I just managed to see this on Youtube. I have just directed a show called Police Dial 100 which is still on air on Life OK and have very very closely worked with Delhi Police on this. I really would like to salute them for the life they lead and the pressure they take. Believe me if one day our police decides to go on strike we will all be in trouble. We all sleep in peace because they are awake all the time. If we cannot take care of the people inside our houses who are abusive and rapists, how can we expect the police to take care of the crores and crores of rapists moving scot free on the streets and in the neighbours. It is not about Delhi police or Mumbai police. Police force abroad are very strict and disciplied. Then how come there are rapes and molestations and abuses and murders happening worldwide. The problem is not with the police but with us. And the sooner we realize this the blame game will end and there will be the first step we all will take specially our media that plays the most negative role. I am a part of this same media and I know how we as a fraternity corrupts the system. It is very very easy to put a man in the dock and grill him for a job that he is doing under immense pressure and amidst all sorts of scrutiny. But I really would want to ask all these media personalities across all news channels, can they see something that can make a positive story or a positive impact on the society. There is so much of positive things happening everywhere. Please start a half an hour programme and believe me even while our grand children would be churning out stories there will be no end to these positive stories. Let me start with the first one in the series ..... S. Sridhar was moved by Paramacharya’s appeal to people to provide a decent burial for unclaimed bodies. “Don’t dump them in burial grounds like garbage. Arrange funerals with basic rituals. Sridhar decided on making it his mission and ever since unclaimed dead bodies are buried after obtaining police clearance. In the case of orphanages, last rites are performed depending upon the religion of the dead. Sridhar himself lights the funeral pyre, chanting Ram’s name, singing `Raghupathi Ragava Raja Ram’. About Rs 1,500 is spent on each cremation and he manages the expenses from the Trust’s funds and personal money. The ash is dissolved in the sea. Some relatives of the departed turn up after the cremation. Sridhar revisits the cremation ground along with the relatives and helps them perform the rites to their satisfaction. He and his wife perform the rites in memory of the dead when they go to places such as Varanasi and Rameswaram. It is worth mentioning that the elderly, living in old age homes, volunteer to donate their eyes after their death.
