I just opened the box and this is what I see after removing the thread protector on my Savage Mark II FV-SR. Would you send this back to get repaired or would you just clean up the threads with a metal nail file and call it good or just leave it the way it is? The thread protector screws on and off just fine, but it just looks bad.. Savage says: If you would send me your address, I will gladly have UPS email you a return label. Once you receive it, you can use it to send the rifle into us for evaluation. Our gunsmiths will then work on this for you and make sure those threads are correctly machined. I dont know if I should do it or not.. What could they do since metal is missing? Will they take my barrel off and possibly mess up any accuracy I might have had? Not sure what I should do.. I dont want to waste my time sending it back if they cant really do anything or if they are just going to do the same thing I can do myself.
