I just read this article and it sounds ridiculous (I cant believe it was that long ago. I dont know, maybe its changed since then. I didnt look into it that far. However...). Why are protective orders even in place if a person can violate them with no consequences? Sounds like it defeats the purpose to me. The government does have a duty to protect its citizens, their rights, their freedoms, etc. etc. At least thats what they preach when wars are started. They are protecting the people and the country. So why is this an issue? Law enforcement has always supposed to be about to serve and PROTECT. Why do we continue to distance from the protect part? Is it simply not wanting to take responsibility for something that goes wrong? I get it, things are not always going to work out perfectly, but we should still strive for that. This country is getting to the point of becoming just like the war ridden countries we claim to be superior to, and who we chastise for being barbaric or primitive. We really need a major overhaul of everything in this country, from the legal system, to the judicial system, to the enforcement of our laws, to our government procedures. We need a totally new direction, and until we get it (which Im afraid we never will) we will continue to cause our own regression and decline.
