I just realized that many people think that what makes a country safe (we are in the top 100) is having a lot of guns. What makes a country safe is full employment, a huge middle class and well educated people. Switzerland was cited in a recent meme as being safe because they had a lot of guns. No mention of the fact that the Swiss view life as more important than things, they do not have our values that it is okay to kill someone if they are stealing our TV, they believe that things are not as important as life. They also did not send a huge percentage of their jobs to foreign lands and then pay their CEO some outrageous salary. Their CEOs make much more than the average worker but not the ludicrous amount that American CEOs make and their workers do not work for non living wages. There are a lot of reasons Switzerland is safe, but guns are not one of them. By the way their health care system is FULL MEDICAL as is their education system.
