I just rebuilt the carb, put in another distributor,an NOS sending unit and cleaned the tank out so its running just fine now. Truck is a 1978 Dodge truck. 400 big block auto tranny. Original motor/tranny. Motor was rebuilt in 2000 has a 2 barrel carb. I used it just a little bit until 2002 then bought a 99 Dakota so this truck went into the shed until this spring/early summer. Engine probably has less than 3-4,000 miles on it I believe. My grandfather bought this truck in about 1979 or 80 from Ted Tufty Dodge on Minnesota ave in Sioux Falls SD. He used it very lightly on the farm but mostly bought it to pull his camper. My uncle then bought it from him I would guess in the late 80s or early 90s. He used it to drive back and forth to work. I bought it from my uncle I think in the mid 90s. It is originally a maroon and tan two tone. When I pulled the motor I patched the rust in the floors with flat sheet metal(welded in and seam sealed and undercoated). I put new carpet in it and a new windshield. Then I put another box on it that was not rusted and painted it white inside and out and added the stripe which I kinda modeled off of the 72 Plymouth duster side stripe. I put a mortan spray in bed liner in the bed and used the truck to haul a car here and there with the trailer but mostly used it to haul my hot air balloon until we bought the Dakota. I really hate to sell it since it was my grandfathers but hate to see it sitting in the shed. It is starting to get a rust bubble in the drivers lower fender. It could use a good full tank of gas and taken out and driven.. I just put a fuel pump on it. The engine was just re-ringed as it was really clean with no ring ridge. I had the heads redone by a friend who had a machine shop in Brookings SD. His name was Aaron Tuttle. He has since moved to the quad Cities in Iowa. The tires show no signs of dry rot and were new in 2000 and have amount of miles the engine has on it. Looking for $3500.00 OBO. Sorry NO TRADES Looking for cash! Most its been driven is around the block and started and let idle in the drive way. Lets get it out of my driveway! Gas mileage on it I can say I never was or am a person who checks mileage except for using the late model cars with the actual gauge. I never tracked it as it just was used sparingly and not an everyday truck. It has started an exhaust leak at the donuts where the exhaust manifolds meet the exhaust pipes. Simple fix just I dont have the time to mess with it. I own this truck free and clear so bring cash and lets deal. I am not one who wheels and deals on stuff I buy but will entertain offers.
