I just received a hug and kiss from a complete stranger, thanking me for taking care of them as their nurse. That is the most rewarding thing a nurse can experience. That is exactly why I became a nurse. It is immensely fulfilling to know that you have impacted a persons life to the point that they want to show their appreciation in the most expressive way that they can. I definitely dont do it for the money. I do it because I know that a person is most vulnerable when they are sick, no matter the illness, and the smallest measures are greatly appreciated. I love taking care of people and doing what is in my power to help them and make them feel better physically and emotionally. It is very rewarding and there is no amount of money on this earth that can even begin to replace it!
