I just received an email reply to an email fax I had sent to her regarding the illegal immigration. I love the way she uses Congress instead of the Senate and House, and that she blames the Republicans.... She says this path to citizenship would reduce our national debt by $158 billion. Would someone please tell me when any Democrat is recent years has done a single thing to help reduce the national debt. Not a single Democrat has proposed any fiscal measure reducing the national debt. Dear James, Thank you for contacting me about the Department of Homeland Securitys (DHS) review of immigration enforcement and deportation policies. On March 13, 2014, President Obama instructed DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson to review current deportation policies to identify ways to conduct immigration enforcement more humanely. On May 27, 2014, the President instructed Secretary Johnson to delay the release of the review, in the hopes that Congress would move forward with comprehensive immigration reform legislation. It is long past time for Congress to take action on this issue. Over a year ago I joined an overwhelming bipartisan majority of my colleagues in the Senate to pass the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, comprehensive immigration reform legislation that would give millions of immigrants a path to citizenship, reduce our national debt over the next decade by $158 billion and secure our borders. Thus far, Republicans in the House of Representatives have refused to consider this - or any - immigration legislation. That is not leadership, and I hope they reverse course. I appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts with me and I hope that you will reach out to my office in the future about issues of importance, or if I can ever be of assistance. Sincerely, Elizabeth Warren United States Senator
