I just received this from Kohlan Flynn about his brother Evan - TopicsExpress

I just received this from Kohlan Flynn about his brother Evan Flynn Class of 1963! Please keep Evan in your prayers for healing and comfort as he is going through this trying time! We grew up with Evan & Kohlan in church and school at Etowah! Just wanted to share this! we all know that Prayer sure changes things and our God is a loving God! Please remember Evan and his family! Hi Glenda, It seems like I don’t use social media much and when I do it is not good news but this seemed to me to be a good way to get the word out to those that knew Evan and I way back when. I have lost track of a lot of friends but I kept your email address so here goes. 4 weeks ago Evan (age 70), who lives with his wife in Aiken SC, was by himself at a farm in Barnwell SC, an hour South of Aiken. He was sitting on the edge of a trailer (like they transport lawnmowers on) facing inward with his feet on the floor of the trailer, when he somehow lost his balance and fell backward 3’ to the ground. That distance does not seem like much but, going backwards, he landed on the back of his head/ neck and as a results broke his neck. Evan lay there on the ground unable to move for over an hour until the owner of the farm came to check on him and found him lying there. EMS was called and he was taking first to the small Barnwell hospital than on to the Shock/Trauma ICU Center at the Georgia University Hospital in Augusta GA. That is where he still is today almost 4 weeks later. At this point there is no movement from the chest down and limited movement of right arm. He is on a ventilator to assist his breathing and cannot be moved to begin any possible rehabilitation until he is off the ventilator. The Drs. have operated and placed 2 metal rods in his back (covering 10 vertebrae) and preformed a tracheotomy for breathing. They tried to do a second operation through the front of the neck to stabilize the spine but when thy got in found the vertebrae in such bad shape they did not do it. Evan is aware of what has happened but cannot talk because of ventilator. Long range recovery does not look promising. Maybe you can share this update with those you know that knew Evan. I appreciate it. Thanks, Kohlan
