I just received this message from Bobby Mims , the President of Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Smith County, Tyler Texas, is where I am from and is probably the most conservative, drug hating county in Texas. This is a good sign that citizens are realizing they have the final say and they are the real judges in the court room: Barry you will be interested to know that today a Smith County Jury just convicted a man for possession of marijuana. He has a significant criminal record including 3 prior DWI convictions...the Smith County jury sentenced him to 0 days in jail and gave him a fine...now do you think that things are changing...some of the jurors were pissed that the state had wasted their time and rebelled.
