I just remembered with nostalgia, the Matongo class of 1993-1996. Our awesome teachers: Mr. Moses Oningu (Now Principal; Homa Bay County; Ngai Maths and Physics were his lullaby to us), Mr. Andrew Otara (now Principal Itierio; biology, man!), late Cephas Orangi Nyotenga (This guy was a walking encyclopedia of Biology. One Wednesday morning he hurriedly showed up at assembly just to announce that his daughter had suddenly vanished from his house at the teachers compound), late Mr. Nyaora (he of famous kondoo ni wengi mbuzi ni wachache; he mastered Maths like hell), Willofrica Moturi (English; wow she eased the setback Government Inspector), Mrs. Okeyo (Kiswahili; she made Mwana wa Giningi and Shamba la Wanyama set books so easy. Now wacha aandike Drama with BUSH acting and rising up from coffin calling Amanda! Amanda!), Mrs. Hellen Okweba (She had acumen for Maths and biology, she is now at Suneka High), Mr. Benjamin Okeyo (Geography; when teaching Sieving as method of mining, he would demonstrate how the spinning happens, and instead of saying things float, he would say ........and they they Chengenena), Peter Nyandiri Ongere (Agriculture; he nearly slapped Exam supervisor Mr. Omoti for not allowing him to aid students who found Agriculture practicals difficult. Anger thundered, how can you watch student failing?), Mr. Malach Ogeke (Accounting/Commerce), Mr. Okweba (Chemistry, wacha offense The Mole and Organic Chemistry, the next time people will not show-up in class), Mr. Geofrey Mute (Metal work, Gitaa Nyasani and Fred Nyasimi Bosire mko wapi?), late Mr. Onanda (Mwalimu wa lugha; one Sunday, he woke up us one day that he had correctly predicted all Kiswahili questions for 1996 KCSE), Mr. Maiko (English; wait until he dramatises Romeo and Juliet setbook) and many more! Those were the days! It was lots of fun during sports day facing schools like Kisii High, Kakamega High, Musingu High, Mombasa High, .........NATIONALS 1995 and 1996; the reason I wear glasses. Nyangwara Ben Maisiba, Anderson Ateya Nyandiri, Josiah Moriasi, David Osumo, #FredNyasimiBosire, Jeremiah Manyinsa, Edward Nyamongo, ..............NO ONE IS RICH ENOUGH TO BUY BACK HIS PAST!
