I just returned from a walking meditation. When all of the monkey - TopicsExpress

I just returned from a walking meditation. When all of the monkey chatter ceased my thoughts opened two ideas your brought to my attention. One I have been thinking about for a long time but it always faded away. I will share them. The first idea is one I had never thought of before folding summer clothes today. I counted 18 t-shirts I have purchased over the years that I have worn as an advocate for a social cause. It is wasteful to have this many t-shirts, but are needed if I want to walk in the Capitol building, letting others know why I am there that day. To those who dont know signs are not permitted but so far no once has asked us to strip because we are a walking picket sign. What I would like to propose is that groups make stencils that can be made available at the event or purchased by mail.We could provide the t-shirt and washable markers could be used to put the message on the shirt. I could wash that shirt later and bring it again to the next rally I attend. Save money, save the cause, save the Earth and give a local vendor a business making these stencils. Has this ever been done? The other idea is a Repair Café. I know New Palz, New York has one. It would be a place like Allen Market Place where people could go to have simple repairs made to small appliances, clothes or sports equipment. Retired or out of work craftspeople could have booths similar to the other vendor booths where they could work. This should also be assessable to those who are homeless or live in poverty. A place for a barber to give free haircuts could also be included. Is there a place in Lansing that offers such a Café? So much for todays meditation. Metta.
