I just returned home from a meeting of the Pastoral Practices - TopicsExpress

I just returned home from a meeting of the Pastoral Practices Committee of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the United States. I can make a very positive report. Representatives of almost every canonical jurisdiction where there and we all worked together as one Church to discuss some very complex pastoral issues. We have all been talking about Orthodox unity in North America for many years. Now we are actually doing the work necessary for true Orthodox unity. I would like some information from Catholics. I was already on the sub-committee on Baptism, Chrismation and the reception of converts. I was prepared for that discussion, but I am now also on the committee on Funerals. One major issue that came up was what do you do with the remains of a miscarriage, or a still born child? You cannot throw what we consider an unborn child in the trash as they do in most American hospitals, but what do you do. What kind of service do you use for the burial of the results of a miscarriage? It would help me prepare for the next meeting, if I knew what Catholics do. Fr. John.
