I just saw A Most Wanted Man this afternoon. I do not recommend it. If you are a big P.S. Hoffman fan, and simply have to see his last film performance (I know, there are 2 Hunger Games in post-production. I dont care.), I still wouldnt recommend this movie. If you were a member of a cult that worshipped PSH as the messiah, and feel he is giving you, and you alone, secret messages from the screen, I would say, OK, go ahead, but bring a book. About an HOUR into it, I thought, Oh, theres some excitement! which was over with in 15 seconds. A half hour later, a mildly interesting twist happened, along the same lines of, lets say, the guy who delivers your pizza turns out to be the kid your neighbor used to babysit (really, THAT interesting). After two hours, I wondered why I can give up on a book, walk out of a play, but not a movie. P.S.H. is good. Willem Dafoe is good. Rachel McAdams is Rachel McAdams. Robin Wright wants us to see what a good actress she can be when her hair is a different color. Oh, and we learn, without being told, that the German word for garage, may be, in fact, garage. This movie gives you a lot of time to think.
