I just saw a GoFundMe for a miss managed but local business for some $20 something thousand dollars. I must not understand the intention of that site. My son did one for honoring the loss of our son which was sweet and sincere. It was better than dealing with an excess of flowers. Thanks to all who loved us through this wonderful site. LoVe This was posted on facebook by someone in the Suches community. We know that some people probably feel the same way about our decision to create a GoFundMe account for the store. We also understand why people could feel this way. When the fund was mentioned to us our first response was NO WAY. This was our problem - no one elses. As keeping the store open became harder and harder, though, we changed our minds. Our family has tried to make the store more than just a place to get a coke and pack of crackers. We appreciate each customer whether it is their one and only time in the store or local customers who come in several times daily. It is our job, we know, but we try to go beyond that. We have put our hearts into pleasing customers. Whether it is giving directions, serving food or just providing a much needed bathroom we always try to go beyond what is expected. With this in mind we thought that many of our customers might be willing to make a small donation to help us keep the store open. That they would recognize our dedication and be willing to help a hard working family that is struggling. While there have not been many online donations the number of people that have come to the store to give their support (emotional and financial) in person has been overwhelming and we are extremely grateful. As far as being miss managed that is probably a given considering the request for help. We bought the store without any retail experience at all - how hard could it be right. Well we had a tremendous amount to learn and then we added the hostel. More learning. Then we started serving food. Much more learning. Have we made mistakes - yes. Have we learned from them - I know we have. We have gotten financial advise, made changes and will continue to have advisers if we are able to stay open. Sorry this is so long. We wanted people to understand our decision to ask for help and to know how much we appreciate the support from of the community.
