I just seriously had a debate with someone that thinks that the reason black people are treated unfairly in America is because of the 3/5 compromise in the Constitution. Never mind the fact the 3/5 compromise was put in to prevent the Slave owning states from having too much power in congress(the south wanted slaves to be counted as a whole person so they would get more reps in congress)(the north wanted slaves to not be counted at all so they would have more power) none of it had anything to do with race. Never mind the fact that the 13th Amendment ended slavery Never mind that the 14th Amendment redefined they way we count population and says that everyone should be counted as a whole person. This guy was a UC Grad and even after I informed him of all thus and more, he still thinks the 3/5 rule applies to black people today and thats why there are more black people in prison and get longer sentences. Seriously people!, education involves more than showing up to classes. Cs may get degrees but it sure doesnt make you any wiser or smarter
