[I just sponsored a major froth on Spike Gillespies page. I just felt like sharing it.] I tend to agree. I went to Emos in the nineties. It was a shithole. Austin never rang my bell like it did everyone elses. Lake Travis is terrible for sailing. The traffic is bizarrely bad, like people dont know where the gas pedal is. And the infrastructure he mentions has been sorely behind the times for forty years because of the city motto, if we dont build it, they wont come. I enjoyed Blues on the Green, if it wasnt a summer with temps of 105--at eight oclock in the evening. The roads are stupid--oh, wait, second city motto, you cant get there from here. But the worst part is how Austin is so full of itself. Like its the only city like it in the world. Its so smug, with its locally-owned coffee houses that dont have wifi and its disdain for Starbucks. Whole foods became exactly what Austinites purport to loathe: a massive corporation. West sixth used to be charming with its hippie shops and eateries--until Z Tejas came along, created Austin food like spinach with bananas in a cherry vodka glaze with stewed pork feet. Okay, Im through frothing. Yall go ahead and let me have it. At least I know Austinites will defend my right to my opinion, even if I AM the spawn of Satan!
