I just unfriended someone for a disagreement on feminism and Gamergate. But it really makes me wonder how compromised I am. How much of a hypocrite am I, to remain friends with some people whose politics I oppose so much? Some kinds of nationalism I see as morally tainted, or hateful. Arent I just as tainted? Ive done a lot of writing for government agencies, including some which had pushed a greenwashing agenda for the palm oil industry. Yet I have the nerve to snap at a close friend for doing some editing work for a BN party officer? Where do I cut off my ties, and where do I draw the line? I cant accept the idea that everyone is compromised to some extent, supporting the corrupt and environmentally bankrupt policies of existing systems. I have to draw lines somewhere. And thats hard.
