I just want to give a shout out to Red Cross; anyone that can go donate on my behalf would be much appreciated just to show gratitude for what they do for people. Our home got flooded on Tuesday which basically made us homeless (along with many others) as the insurance doesn’t cover ‘natural disasters’. At first I was okay until I really started missing the thing I love most in my life, the glue that holds me together on a daily basis, my son. I know I could always go see him but it’s not the same, a few hours here and there. All my heart wanted Thursday morning and continuing on through the day was to be somewhere safe and comfortable with him for a little while without feeling I was imposing on anyone, I was holding back tears for hours trying to work and keep it together. Anyway, my insurance company referred me to FEMA and I decided to give them a call who then referred me to Red Cross; an hour later they met me where the homes were flooded, assessed the damage and put Gabe and I up in a hotel for a few nights and even gave us some money for food. They also continued to go to the other homes and see if there was anyone else left that needed help. What a blessing it has been. Gabe loves the hotel and I just loved being able to be with my mom trophy (Gabriel Peme). Things like this really put in perspective what’s most important in life. God helps those who help themselves and god is in every one of us (objective interpretation, I’m saying God). On that note, I also want to say thank you to the many friends I have who have offered me to stay with them temporarily, I have nothing but gratitude in my heart for you and no words can express the feeling of knowing how many people genuinely care.
