I just want to say, I am not sure if any of Joey friends understand the whole picture. Tedra was on vacation for about 3 weeks and I was here every day, I only had the phone calls from close people that I could work directly with, Tedi while she was on vacation had a lot of phone calls, yes her family got irritated with her, but when you have a shelter to run, you never can not be involved. Tedi deals with so many people, so many cats, so many emergencys, everyone whats help with something, but where all those when she needs a little help. I am encouraging and I have been for awhile to step away from all of those calls, does anyone realize how emotionally draining running a shelter is. I want to focus on the cats that will live their life at the shelter, lets take care of those and we still have to have space for all the returns, this year we have had so many and she tries to get the returns right back up for adoption, they have the first priority because they cannot come back into the shelter they become very depressed, we know this, we see this, the cats have been in a home and they know this.But Tedi still tries to help those she can. Remember this shelter is only funded by donations, that is it. The vet bills run 5 to 10 thousand a month, food cost for can food is 1050.00 a month, the dry food is $3091.00 a months,1 month of litter costs 780.00 all of the spay and neuters are out of pocket too. The meds for 1/2 of month runs 1036.00 Nothing is free. If Tedi doesnt return your call or take in the stray cat you found, it is nothing personal, here is one person trying to help everyone, and she cant, her heart breaks at the stories and then she worries about the cats. Tedi has been doing this since 1985, I would have broke long before now, running a shelter is hard work.Please try to understand the big picture. If I had to worry about where the money was coming from to keep things running that stress alone would put me over the top. Please remember this is one person, trying to help as many as she can and trying to take care of what is here. Peace and Hugs
