I just wanted to share an unforgettable experience that I had - TopicsExpress

I just wanted to share an unforgettable experience that I had today with one of the residents at the Convalescent home. There is a resident that has been there for longer than I can remember. Just a couple years ago, she was able to communicate perfectly to us. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. She would recite it to us all by memory. As time went by, her ability to speak had worsened...to the point of just faint garbbled sounds. Today, I shared Psalm 23 to the residents and noticed she was not there. Afterward, I asked the activities assistant if she was okay. She said she was a little under the weather and invited me to go see her...so I did. When I went in there, she appeared a little dazed and unsure of who I was. I sat by her side and asked if I could read her favorite scripture: Psalms 23. Her eyes sparkled and she made a sweet little smile. She tried to speak to me in response, but was unable. So...I proceeded to read. To my delight and surprise, she, on the most part, softly and clearly recited the psalm. As we spoke the words, her eyes gazed upward and her countenance glowed. She continued to do so even after we stopped. I just sat there looking at her. Her face was so beautiful...it was like she was abiding in that very Psalm. I believe she was ♥️. Psalms 23 (What she recited) A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalms 23 (My favorite Amplified Translation) THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake. Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head withoil; my [brimming] cup runs over. Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.
