I just wanted to share this disturbing report which I have received from one of our very own citizen in Malaysia. This citizen has been here in Malaysia for quite sometime and working with a very reputable employer. The visa is no longer valid and has availed of the amnesty program. The application is under process with a letter confirmation of receipt from the Immigration. This Filipino Citizen who is based in Johor went to the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and arrived there at 5AM to apply for a new passport on the basis of the Lost Police Report together with those documents for the legalization process. The Embassy turned-down the application and the citizen was offered a travel document instead back to the Philippines. A Filipino Citizen outside of the country without the valid identification (Passport) is not a Filipino. Bakit hindi siya mabigyan ng passport? Ang travel document ay para ba sa madalian na solution ng problema. Yes, madali para sa mga taga-embassy na mapauwi ka pero nakikita ba nila kung ano ang maging kahinatnan mo pag dating sa pinas? meron ba silang mabibigay na trabaho kaagad pag dating mo ng pinas? paano na iyong sinusuportahan mong pamilya? Paano na iyong pinagtatrabahohan mo dito sa Malaysia? This has to be looked into very deeply by the concerned authorities. Ang masakit pa ay ang sinabi ng citizen na ito: Filipino ako dahil ako ay pinanganak sa Pinas. Kung ako ay pinahihirapan mabigyan ng bagong passport, mabuti pa maging Indonesian na lang ako.....puede ba iyon? Meron pa akong nasagap na report na diyan daw sa embassy meron in-between na taga lakad ng passport. Mas matindi pa ang kakulangan ng mga dokumento sa pag apply ng passport pero ito ay makalusot sa paraan na hindi natin alam. Let us be fair to everyone and let us see the legitimacy of every application. Every Filipino Citizen especially those outside of the country is entitled for a PASSPORT, otherwise they become STATELESS in a foreign land.
