I just watched this amazing 48 minute (plus) video. I am so fortunate that because of my on-line connection, I can sit inside this lecture hall and listen and learn on this fine Sunday morning. Would that we took the time to do this more often: to truly understand the implications of what is happening in the world right now. Why the current war in Ukraine is about much more than a small regional conflict in some faraway place that has no bearing on us. This is more of a threat to all of us than we realize, to all that we stand for and take for granted in the west (the European Union and North America), all the core values, our very identity which was fought for on our behalf by previous generations after a particularly tumultuous and violent century, a truth that we must acknowledge, for if we do not, we risk a very slippery descent into a much different world where there are no truths, and the doublespeak we are surrounded by will have been our undoing.
