I keep hearing how everyone wants to compare this NBA Draft to the 2003 Draft as if 2003 was some benchmark for depth. 2003 had Lebron, Melo, Wade and Bosh. And that is almost literally it. It also had Darko Milicic, TJ Ford, Michael Sweetney, Reece Gaines and a handful of others that never reached their perceived value. 1984 had just as many future Hall of Famers (Olajuwon, Jordan, Barkley, Stockton). But why does no one reference 1996. It was the changing of the guard. Instead of three or four big names. It had 12 that were significant starters for a long time all the way up to future hall of famers. Iverson, Camby, Abdur-Rahim, Marbury, Ray Allen, Antoine Walker, Kobe Bryant, Peja, Nash, Jermaine ONeal, Ilgauskas, Fisher. Just a thought. But it seems to me that the 1996 draft was so much better on the whole. 2003 just happens to have 3 of the best players of the current era.
