I keep hearing people correct each other on what is ethnic cleansing and what is genocide and all against the atrocities happening on such a large scale in Gaza. But honestly, who cares about these definitions when its clear-cut and simple how devastating, deplorable and inhumane the situation has turned out to become over the past week? Why dont we just see the suffering AS IT IS, and acknowledge that not only are peoples homes and lives being destroyed, those that survived are and will go through severe trauma as well as the burden of poor infrastructure from lack of medical support (since hospitals are destroyed), and water (water tanks destroyed), and financial burden. Its much easier to look at the ruins of a war in the past and decide the wrongs and rights as well as going as far as glamorizing ruined and abandoned sites. But its interesting how challenged we actually become when its happening right under our noses. Towns are destroyed. People are hiding in caves to protect themselves from the armies, people have fled, children and women are dying, and the list goes on. Ideals such as love beats war is all good, but the reality is that the longer you have to cope with a traumatic situation the better equipped you are to becoming accustomed to it, and you are likely to not know of any other way. Having said this, theres a lot of mess in these wars - both before, during and after.
