I keep saying things of this nature because it is at the very core of my personal beliefs. When we truly believe, when we truly understand the revelation of who God is, both to us and in general, our response should automatically be to love and serve others. To be bastions of truth, which is both absolute and knowable, in defense of those that are lead to defeat by lies. We have dedicated these 40 days to choosing to stoke the flames of passion for the Lord in ourselves. And, for those of us who celebrate the Light of the World through Chanukkah, we begin tomorrow night to celebrate the essence of dedication to HaShem. On that note, I want us to keep two things in mind: When the temple was dedicated, the Glory of HaShem filled the temple so that the priests could not even do what they had planned to do. (2 Chronicles 5:11-14) May Gods will always overtake our own will! Secondly this: For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror— for once he looks at himself and goes away, he immediately forgets what sort of person he was. But the one who looks intently into the perfect Torah, the Torah that gives freedom, and continues in it, not becoming a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts—he shall be blessed in what he does. If anyone thinks he is religious and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is futile. Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (Jacob (James) 1:23-27 TLV) True belief is the service of others. May we always be guilty of putting others first and ourselves last! On this feast of dedication, I dedicate myself to You. youtu.be/xiZkfQN7ps0
