I kind of have a bit of a double standard when it come to describing the musical abilities of people. If Im speaking to another musician I can be candid. I will converse genially but endeavour to be truthful. But if Im speaking to non-musicians then I can be a little starry-eyed. This is mainly because I appreciate the passion that musicians usually have, and that is a thing to be held in high regard. No matter how good or how bad they are, they are usually much better than someone who doesnt play at all. Of course, thats only half the story.
