I know I have a few former teachers on my friends list....so maybe Kathleen Moran and Terri Osmers can shed some light on the subject of Common Core Math. Everything I have seen and read about this has been negative. I have seen the word problems. I have seen the math equations. I have heard the term math story instead of solve the equation. I have heard the logic decribed in the math story of a word problem.......and through all of that I DONT GET IT! Where, How, and WHY is this what is taught now? What happened to conventional arithmetic? How does common core math apply to architects and engineers? Does it extend past elementary school into high schools and heaven forbid college?? Please shed the light for me...i know many parents who are frustrated with this!!!
