I know as teachers and parents there is always discussion around what are appropriate academic standards for children. Is the curriculum challenging? Is it too rigorous? Should they play more? Stop testing...it goes on and on. I dont have an answer here, but I am pretty amazed. I remember when I started teaching First Grade in 1995 and it was our job to teach them to read and write. Now, years later my Kindergarten daughter is reading at a Level 12 (thats teacher talk and not a grade level). Lets just say she knows way more than her ABCs. ;) Holy Bamboley!!
