I know being on Facebook is not my usual thing, but I had to take - TopicsExpress

I know being on Facebook is not my usual thing, but I had to take the time to share this. Ill warn now, its quite upsetting, and involves animal cruelty. As some of you may or may not have seen in the news, Facebook has recently /refused/ to take down a video of a kitten being set on fire. Its been stated that the video is to remain on Facebook in order to raise awareness of such atrocities, though Im not sure who posted the original video or in what context. I have my doubts about Facebooks morals; its not the first time theyve refused to take down videos of animal abuse and Im sure it wont be the last. Many refusals are without comment, or with a response claiming that the videos do not contain offensive material. Its made even more difficult by the fact that theres not even an option to report cruelty and violence towards animals. Theres currently a couple of petitions on Change.org that ask for the kitten video in question to be removed, so please take the time to sign them. While it is too late to do anything to help the kitten, and though it wont help bring justice to the offender, it will highlight part of a bigger problem on this website. By banning such horrific content on Facebook, one of the biggest social media websites in the world, itll really be a big step towards preventing the glorification of abuse towards animals. Signing the links below help to start that process. change.org/p/facebook-get-facebook-to-remove-video-of-kitten-being-set-on-fire https://change.org/p/facebook-facebook-take-down-the-video-of-boys-lighting-a-kitten-on-fire Id also like to encourage people to take the time complain directly to Facebook, as a more direct course of action. Theres only so many times they can ignore the same complaint.
