I know its quite late but: Today is World AIDS Day. A day when we can all think about those weve lost to the fight against HIV/AIDS, can show our support for those currently living with HIV/AIDS and can reflect on how we as a society can move forward in eliminating HIV/AIDS. The fight against HIV/AIDS is a fight Im very passionate about and one which I hope I can become more a part of in the future. There is still a long way to go and I dont believe any one person or organisation currently holds the answer to solving all the problems associated with HIV/AIDS, but we will get there. Specifically for the gay community, I know ours is a community which has lived through a number of hardships and with each and every one it is through unity, love and immeasurable strength that we are able to achieve our goals and persevere. Now is the time for us to talk openly about new ways to prevent HIV/AIDS spreading, to begin to truly understand what it is to live with HIV/AIDS (and for those with HIV/AIDS to no longer fear talking openly about it, I tip my hat to Nic Holas for doing so) and, finally, to discuss frankly about what we as a community can do to win this fight and to then act decisively. I love this community, I believe in this community and I know one day we will succeed in ending HIV/AIDS forever.
