I know its summer and a lot of you will be heading down to the beach if you arent there already. Thats great! Get away from the city for awhile and relax by the water....Just dont take the city with you. Yeah, this is one of those statuses. It just upset me so badly that ive been thinking about it all day. I went to the beach for the first time in a long time yesterday, and aside from having a great time..I was really upset when, at the end of the day, I saw all of the plastic bottles, colorful plastic buckets and shovels, beer cans, and other reminders of why I sometimes hate humans, drifting out into the ocean. I know most commercial beaches hire a cleaning crew to clean up at the end of every day, but do you really think its possible for them to get every single last plastic bottle? Where do you think your empty pepsi bottle is going to end up? There are trash cans and recycling bins everywhere. I know a beach vacation means having as much fun as possible, but really, we all have a responsibility to try and do simple things like making sure our trash ends up in the proper storage bin. It isnt hard. Weve already done so much damage to this earth and we dont have another one. Think of all of the trash floating out in the ocean right now, do you really want to be responsible for adding another bottle directly out there? When you buy your kids buckets and shovels, please dont leave them on the shore when youre packing your things to head home. Just take them with you and save them for next time.Hell, you could punch a hole in the bottom of them and turn them into planters. Dont teach your children its okay to be so wasteful. Please, please stop leaving your trash on the sand.If youre a smoker, just make sure to leave your cigaret buts in your pack and when youre done, just walk the 10 feet to the nearest trash can and throw it out there. If you see someone throwing their garbage on the sand, try to gently remind them what an asshole they are being (you dont have to use those exact words) This really means a lot to mean. Im not saying everyone on my page does these things (its a general you statement) every time they visit the shore or a park, but if you see someone say something. We all have to take more responsibility for the foot prints we leave behind us.
