I know many of my friends from JC were of Italian heritage either from both parents or one.But wheather it was Italy,Poland,Spain or Africa you should try to learn something of your ancestors.When I was maybe 12 I asked my grandmother where was she born in Italy.She said Tuoro,near Napoli.I can still remember the conversation.Well I went there this year.They had been out of touch with their Italian roots since they left in the 1890s.But guess what,I changed that.I tracked down the Verdicchio clan still living in Caserta.Tuoro is a village in Caserta.Attached is the family with me at the head of the table and also next to the baptism font in San Stefano Parish where my ancestors were baptised and married 300 years ago.The Padre told me the baptisimal font is still in use and has been for almost 500 years.The church is over 1000 years old.I am not really a strong believer unfortunately.However, I have one small crucifix in my dining room.It is the only one in the house.It is very small and very unusual.When I sat down in the priests office I looked up and he had one crucifix in his office.It is the exact same one as in my house.When I told him the story he said without hesitation,Of course God sent you here and he has just given you a sign.That has changed my view and my beliefs.How could it not. Also after I returned from Italy my cousin Alessandro sent me an email.He said if you look at the picture of the two of us in Tuor it says on the wall over your (my) head Made in the USA. Does God have a sense of humor? I think so.
