I know many of you dont want to post political items on your timeline, and I dont blame you. But I do ask that you think about the like-minded people on your friends list who might not have heard about the campaign. Please send them a private message or post on their wall and ask them to like my Hampton for Congress page. Im running as an unconventional candidate and will have a campaign that is also way outside the norm for politics... - a shoestring budget - no access to party connections or organization - as someone with a regular job in addition to being a candidate (never enough time to do everything Id like to!) - and an in ongoing battle for media attention in a climate where incumbents have privileges of office which means their public relations efforts (campaigning) are usually accepted almost without question by the media. The way to overcome is by using fresh ideas, new approaches and ways of getting the word out -- a true grassroots, citizen-led effort. Social media is obviously a huge part of the process. If I cant hit the 1,000-likes mark within the next few days and then grow the number exponentially from there, its honestly going to be difficult to get my name out into the district and have a chance of being known as a viable candidate. I thank you for your encouragement, but now Im asking for you to make an effort to get more people on board. INDEPENDENTS: Real change starts with us!
