I know most people are going to disagree with what Im about to say. However, we all know whats going on right now due to the killing of Mike Brown. It has sparked protest demonstrations, which have also turned into riots. For the past few years we have been seeing the increase of black Americans being killed by white cops and civilians right in front of our faces on live television. Then its recapped through social media. I,e, Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis, and more recently Eric Garner. With that being said, its safe to openly say that we are being attacked as African Americans. Not only are we being killed, we are then being mocked by the very same people doing the killing. Theres no reason George Zimmerman should be a free man other than to make a mockery out of Blacks. As much as I want to agree with these pictures circulating of these black people throwing their hands up, I feel that it completely sends the wrong message. We are being hunted and killed by cops every single day watching them get away with it. You mean to tell me that we are going to send the message of us surrendering to these cowards? Didnt Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown throw their hands up right before they were shot? Where did that get them? Killed. If you dont believe me theres a popular movie about this called Fruitvale. Im sure youve heard of it. Yes, Oscar Grant had his hands up before they killed him too. I cant believe that we have been brainwashed to the point we think that throwing our hands up to the very people who are killing us is the right thing to do. Im not surrendering, and if you dont see that’s exactly what is being said then youre blind too. That is exactly where they want us. So every time I see one of those pictures I get angrier. If you dont understand what the Black Panthers were about I advise you to do some research. If you dont know what they stood for, they werent the throw our hands up kind of organization. They were the kill these people trying to kill us kind of organization. We are clearly in a new civil rights war and most of us are still slaves. Its just not so easy to see because we arent physically picking cotton or being enslaved by a master. But guess what, we are mentally picking cotton and being enslaved by a master which is 10 times worse. If any of you think that throwing our hands up is going to make any of this go away then you my friend, [are still a slave]. Its time for us to wake up and see whats really going on. Its time we realize praying about the situation isnt going to change anything. If it were the answer then things would be perfect by now. Here we are taught from slavery, to get down on own our knees to pray for peace and compassion from our governmental master. Waiting on a spirit from above to rescue us. Yet if someone hits us in our face we immediately fight back, not pray. How hypocritical. In closing I will tell you what you already know. We are being exterminated and I decided that I’d no longer sit back and be a closed mouth nigga and just pray about this situation. No more! In fact, my contribution is to tell you about YOU. The real question is are you going to put your hands down, rise up out of submission and throw your fists up? Peace is not the answer to this war.
