I know people who will never be able to hold their children again because of tragic situations where a child stepped into the road for a matter of seconds and an approaching driver could not see them. I will never understand why so many people let their children play unsupervised in the road, on 35 mph residential streets where people have been known to fly by at 50 or 60 mph. Or why these people think it is also okay to let their children play in the road after dark, or during a storm, when there is little to no visibility. Or why these people do nothing but scold their child regularly when they accidentally or PURPOSEFULLY ride out or walk out in front of a car. If I were responsible for a childs life, and that child rode their bike/scooter/skateboard out in front of an automobile in the road, then that bike/scooter/skateboard would be put away for AT LEAST a year, pending a better display of good judgment and common sense. I dont play when it comes to that.... No excuses. You know all those piles of guts you see smeared across the road when someone in a lifted truck hits an animal? They could just as easily belong to your kid. Try letting that picture sink in if little warnings and small scares arent enough for you to take notice.
