I know plenty of words and slang have come out of no where in these last four years. From your selfies, to your YOLOs, ending with your drama. I understand they mean something concrete, but there is one word that is just absurd in meaning: Cartoonish. Where do I begin... Ill just get my point out first: What the hell do you mean overall? These days, people are quick to judge what they dont like with the word cartoonish. Instead of using traditional words that express the emotional dislike such as cheesy, corny, or even vulgar, people end up using a word thats extremely broad and too narrow to make sense, I get that your possibly referring to a cartoon in some way, maybe the unattainable nature of your dislike. Thats where the problem starts and grows... cartoons dont drive a world filled with animation styles, diverse art directions, cultural respects, country norms, and even digital technological presentation. You can address any of those mediums, and even then, they dig deeper on details. Saying somethings cartoonish doesnt really express what you feel. It doesnt actually communicate the flaws of your apparent disdain towards a topic. All that it does across the conversation is create more confusion on a particular judgement, where people take their likes and interests for widely accepted reasons. If you just use simple words like love, hate, like, or dislike, then we cut straight to the point and avoid begging the question. Its a word of verdict that really has no concrete meaning nor some sense of agreement on. In my opinion, Ive always considered using the word cartoonish as a one-word cop out. It makes people and critics seem like they have no chance in hell what their talking about. #TBH
