I know some of you have seen this post a couple times already, so tune me out. Im sure most of you do each time you see my avatar. This is in reference to a fundraising basketball game we are having at Cedar Springs High School this Saturday to benefit a good friend of mine, Scotty Hazel - you need to come. As we are inside a week before the big game, I want to get some information out there and answer some questions that have come in: While the game will begin at 7 p.m., the doors will be open at 6:00. There will be a silent auction where you can bid on everything from autographed Lions gear and golf packages to great local restaurant deals and even copies of Scotty Hazels book, Looking Out Windows. Bring some spare change! Greg Dreyer and the CSHS Sports Boosters will also be running the concession stand, and in Scotts name, all the proceeds will go towards helping CS students attend Spring Hill next winter. At halftime of the game, tables will be set up in the gym, and Lions players will be signing autographs for approximately 30 minutes. And I have just been able to firm up the roster going against Team Hazel - here is a list of the Lions who will be playing: *Herman Moore, 11-year WR and 4-time Pro Bowler. He is currently the Lions career leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns *Bill Bentley, a second-year CB out of Louisiana-Lafayette. He was a third-round draft pick in 2012 and has over 40 tackles in his short career *Cory Schlesinger, 12-year FB and 3-time Pro Bowl alternate. He was a bruising back, scoring over 14 career touchdowns and is most famous for helping open holes for Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders *Rob Rubick, a 7-year TE from Newberry, Michigan - he is the second-best football player to hail from that wonderful town - and Grand Valley State University. He now does color commentary and broadcast work for the team *Devin Taylor, at 67 and 270 lbs., he is a DE the Lions are really high on. He will battle for a starting position this year on the other side of Ziggy Ansah, last years #1 pick *Theo Riddick, former Notre Dame star for coach Brian Kelly, figures to see a lot of action this year at both WR and KR *Tahir Whitehead, a second-year LB and special teams standout. Last year, he won the Yale Larry Special Teams Most Valuable Player Award, recording nine tackles and a forced fumble Linda Lynch Tanis is selling tickets faster than they can be printed, but there are still some available for the event. If you are not able to purchase them at CSPS, you may get them at the door the night of the event . Come out and support Scott and have a great time in the process! See you Saturday - lets fill the gym! Cliff
