I know that there are many of you who wish the commentary on social media, about Michael Brown, Eric Garner, or whatever unarmed black man who just got murdered by the police would simply go away. However, we do not post about it with the intent of interrupting your discussions about the Real Housewives or your invitations to play Candy Crush. It sickens us every time we read about another one of these murders, and that makes us uncomfortable. I know that there are many of you who wish that we would just stop talking about about it because it makes you feel uncomfortable. So if its starting to make you uncomfortable, then at least I know youve now started paying attention. If you feel uncomfortable, imagine how uncomfortable Michael Browns parents must feel. How uncomfortable has Eric Garners widow felt every day since the badged hoodlums of the NYPD killed her late husband in broad daylight? How uncomfortable would you feel if you discovered that your son, your friend, or your father was unarmed and still murdered by a police officer? How uncomfortable would you feel if after your unarmed son was shot and killed by an officer who took an oath to protect and to serve their community, they left him lying dead in the street like roadkill that was run over by a pickup truck? So as long as unarmed black men are treated with lower regard than the pitbulls that were killed by Michael Vick, then I guess youre going to have to feel uncomfortable. As long as my friends and family members have to hope that their next encounter with a police officer wont be their last day on earth, then I guess youre going to have to be uncomfortable. As long as you are more outraged by the possible cancellation of Duck Dynasty than the unjustified killing of an unarmed black men, then I guess youre going to have to be uncomfortable. Those of us who post about these issues take no great joy in doing so. If we are posting about it, it unfortunately means that another senseless tragedy has occurred.
