I know the Sentinel had a hard time getting official conformation of this: Hooters, Inc. will open a new restaurant in Douglasville in the near future. The Atlanta-based eatery will be located at 6855 Douglas Blvd. in the building formerly occupied by S’more BBQ, which closed for business in December. Mike Fickett, a training manager for Hooters, visited the new location Thursday to see what changes needed to be made to the building. “(The opening) will be in the next few months,” Fickett said. “It depends on how much work they need to do on the building. … It’s going to happen, we just don’t know when.” City Building Official Mike Mettler said remodeling usually takes about three to four months. “The building itself is intact and the plans with the kitchen are relatively the same as S’mores had,” Mettler said. “The contractor has not been determined at this point, so we’re waiting for Hooters to select a contractor before we issue a building permit.” Hooters isn’t a new restaurant to the city. The company closed its restaurant on Concourse Parkway near Wal-Mart a few years ago after operating for many years, Mettler said. The new location is expected to open late spring or early summer.
